Open Hands (A Moving Poem by Michael Martinez, SJ)
In 2014, I created a poem called "Open Hands." It was written as a synthesis of the 30-day Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. It was not until 2016 that I set it to music composed and performed by Richard Lacy and Sonia Slany. The video tracks various hands in the course of a day, as they engage in various activities throughout the day, all for the greater glory of God. A.M.D.G.
"Pedir conocimiento interno de tanto bien recibido para EN TODO amar y servir" [EE 233]
The Family Meal (Short Film by Michael Martínez, SJ)
To prepare for a Catholic Mass, the list of items include a chalice, paten, cruet, ablution cup, a corporal, purificator, and finger towel; plus, bread, water and wine. But what if we added to the above list one’s internal doubts, dreams, insecurities, joys and anxieties? The Mass is the most powerful of liturgical prayers and yet, it is as simple as a “Family Meal.” A.M.D.G.
